Paul Anastasio -
A versatile violinist/fiddler and considered one of the foremost authorities on Joe Venuti's swinging approach to jazz violin. Paul also worked with some of the top Western Swing/Country bands. A music historian and authority of Mexico's Tierra Caliente music Paul brings a vast collection of styles with him to share.

Shane Cook -
Shanrates at the top of the short list of the finest fiddlers in the world today",  says the Canadian Fiddlers' Hall of Fame. Shane is a master of several fiddle styles including Canadian Old-Time, Scottish, French-Canadian and Texas-style.    

Matt Combs -
a versatile performer, instrumentalist, writer, producer, and teacher, Matt has worked with some of the best names in country, bluegrass, and old-time music. His deep understanding of music has led him to the Head of Fiddle Dept of Vanderbilt's Blair School of Music.

Stanley Widener
Classically trained Multi-genre  instrumentalist, Stanley is a fantastically patient and gifted teacher.

 

Brian Grim
The legendary Albert Hash taught tunes to the likes of Bruce Molsky and our very own BRIAN GRIM. The "real deal" in  mountain string music. Shane Cook said  of Brian, "one of the most powerful fiddlers I've seen"!

A rare opportunity to experience Appalachia, its  Music & Heritage while receiving intensive and fun-filled music instruction by our staff of local, National & World Class professional instructors. Bring your favorite stringed instrument, (we're not just for fiddle), and/or dancing shoes. All ages and levels of motivated strings players welcome. You'll have ample opportunity to interact with outstanding teaching staff, while immersed in the heart of  Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains.

INSTRUCTION includes theory, technique, improvisation, note reading, good practice habits, improving tone and intonation as well as new repertoire.

STYLES taught may include;  Appalachian Old Time,  Bluegrass,  Canadian Old Time,  Old-Time,  Contest-style,  Irish,  Scottish, Jazz and Swing.    BANJO, FIDDLE, GUITAR, MANDOLIN, BASS

SCHEDULE includes; *five hours instruction per day, *a Ceilidh/Barn Party/ Bar-B-Que,  *concert by instructors, *an evening(s) at local "CROOKED ROAD" destination(s) to Jam,  and other "surprises".    Three healthy home-cooked meals, snacks & drinks are included each day.

ACCOMMODATIONS  include *reserved off-site R.V. camping, *on-site primitive cabins *shared vacation rentals, * local hotel, *bed & breakfast's or *local host families, depending on your needs &/or budget.
